Lucky Winners!

Preparations for the Christmas Holiday took over and we neglected to hold the drawing for our November Blog Follower! So, we have 2 lucky winners today! These blog followers have won a $25 gift certificate to the Quilt Barn:

Amy Toft & Erin Young

Congratulations! Your gift certificates will be available at the cash register at your convenience. :-)

Cheater, cheater, pumpkin eater!

I think the term "cheater fabric" is a little harsh. I mean, really... isn't this type of cheating called increasing efficiency? :-) Moda's Winter Patch fabrics are already patchworked for you! You can add some warm batting, and snuggly minky on the back and Ta-da! Tie it or quilt it up for a beauty that looks like you slaved the week away - no piecing required!

Boy Scouts of America 100 yrs

Last month, Logan (my oldest son) earned his Eagle Scout Award. How perfect that Boy Scouts of America is celebrating 100 years in 2010 and all this fun Scout fabric is available! We took a couple of wall hanging kits and added a border to create a fun throw to commemorate his achievement. He chose camoflauge minky as the back and now has to peel it off one of his family members when he wants to use it! I'm even guilty - I guess everyone needs their own minky quilt. I better get sewing!

Nothing like flannel in the winter...

After hunting for a "masculine" quilt pattern, I was thrilled to find one that simply uses half square triangles to form a beautiful diamond pattern. My 14 year old son loves flannel and didn't want this machine quilted for fear it would stiffen up and lose it's soft puffy feel. Well, quilting is just what I do, so... I put a puffy poly batting inside and quilted horizontal rows across the quilt. Talk about NUMMY! It is as soft as it can be!

Oh Christmas Tree... what a gorgeous skirt you have on

Jenele made this GORGEOUS tree skirt for her super lucky daughter-in-law for Christmas! The picture just doesn't do it is truly stunning. She found the pattern/tutorial on - a simply amazing blog full of fun tutorials and ideas. If you haven't ever browsed it, make sure you set aside a good chunk of time, because you will want to see absolutely everything this talented gal has ever created! She is so generous to share her patterns and has written some fabulous tutorials to help you create your own amazing projects!

Jenele is in her "creative genius" mode again! You know, it can be hard to find cute boy quilts and fabrics, but this new "Robots" line makes an great "boy" quilt! This one is a Jenele original - combining many popular blocks and styles to create a masterpiece. It is machine quilted with our new "space" pattern and washed in warm for the vintage wrinkled look. Not your Grandmother's Cathedral Window

If you haven't been in the store to see this "old" quilt, you just gotta feel it to convince yourself that it didn't come from Grandma's attic. Cotton Way has made cathedral windows history! This rough edge - quilt as you go - method wrinkles and frays when it's washed to look like an old heirloom quilt. This quilt was made with Moda's brand new Simple Abundance line by Bonnie and Camille. For more adorable projects to make with this line, visit, or come into to store and grab a ready-to-sew kit for your holiday gift giving this year! This kit is available in the store and online. The complete kit includes top, pattern, batting, and backing for $55. The quilt finishes at 44" square - perfect for a table topper or baby quilt!

School Spirit

We have been getting ready for Halloween! Jenele has been busy making pillowcases for her cute grandkids! Come on in to see our great selection of kits and projects for the Fall Season. From pillowcases and bags to quilts and table runners, there is something for everyone!
Show your school spirit with a team quilt! Classes will be held in October to make your own throw for those chilly football games. What a great Christmas gift!

Robin went "hopping" in Utah and saw this adorable quilt hanging in Gardiner's Sew & Quilt in Ogden. How creative to use a pattern from the "Stop, Drop, & Roll" book by Anka's Treasures to feature this adorable Halloween panel. Not only do we have a full line of this fabric by Sheri Berry, but we also have kits available for this adorable quilt. Robin is our Halloween girl - and just had to sew one up for her home!

New Arrivals

Our shop is bursting with new bolts of fabulous fabric! Over a dozen new lines have arrived just this month! We have been busy sewing Christmas projects - yes, you heard that right - it's time to think about Christmas! We have catered our fall classes toward fun gift ideas... aprons to stockings, table runners to wall hangings. Need a fun gift idea? We've got you covered!

Pictured here is a new "cheater fabric" by Moda called "My First Quilt". The hexagon pattern is printed right on the fabric. I quilted it with a tight stipple and washed it in warm and threw it in the dryer. I know, not your typical care instructions for a handmade quilt! But the results were to die for! It looks like an antique treasure from my grandmother's hutch. Almost every day, someone asks who on earth pieced all those tiny hexagons. (hee hee) The fabric is 60" wide and is perfect for any size quilt.

Other "must see" new arrivals: (check back, I'll be posting links to the Christmas fabrics soon!)
