Figures Patchwork Quilt

Heather and I have a joke that we only want to make patchwork quilts from now on. We see a fabric line we line and want to patchwork it! Of course, that doesn't always work out but sometimes it does.
There is just something so satisfying about the simplicity of rows of squares.

This quilt was made by our friend, Erika, of Pink Suede Shoe (check her out on Instagram). She used a fat quarter bundle of Figures, by Zen Chic, and several other coordinating fabrics.

Heather quilted the figure 8's. Did you know you can mail in your quilt top and backing and Heather can quilt your quilt  and mail it back? So cool. Info on how to do that is here.

I think the backing is just as awesome as the front. Its like a reversible two for one quilt.

I added a few greens on the shelf to show that the navy goes with other colors too. Teal, red, tan...navy is the perfect compliment to so many colors.

You many have noticed there is no binding on the quilt. Yet. I have to admit, for me, sewing the binding on can really delay a project. Why is that? So close!

Indigo Denim Baby Quilt

Check out the adorable baby quilt Heather made with Indigo by Moda. She cut mini jelly rolls and used the Jelly Roll Jam II pattern. It finishes at 36"X39".

She used double poly batting and a wide chevron quilting pattern for a puffy soft quilt.

Modern Building Baby Quilt

I have something to awesome to show you today. Have you been following along with my Modern Building Block show and tell? This is one of the blocks from the pattern book. I haven't made this particular block yet. You get an idea of just how big these bigger blocks are.

Our friend, Ericka, of Pink Suede Shoe (same name on Instagram) pulled great fabrics and made this shop sample a few weeks ago. There are a a few different lines in here:
Far Far Away, Up Parasol, Quilter's Linen, April Showers, and dots.

Erika added an outer border and fussy cut corner blocks featuring the frogs from Far Far Away. And of course the binding is the best!

We made a few kits and it includes the pattern book, fabrics for the top, and the binding. Happy Sewing!

Fancy Fox with Emmy Grace

 I looove this quilt. I had intentions of giving this to middle daughter but now oldest daughter wants it. I am thinking of making another fox quilt out of this fabric for her.

Like the jump ropes and twine tied to my tree? They are going to have to be cut off, those girls can tie knots.

The fabric is Emmy Grace by Art Gallery. This company has the softest, best quality fabric.

We have only a few bundles left of this line and some bolts left. I need to get some yardage for a pillowcase soon. I have decided to make a matching pillowcase for every quilt I make. Then they can store the quilt in the pillowcase.

The pattern is Fancy Foxes by Oh, Fransson. I am thinking about making a few blocks for a pillow out of some of these fabrics too.

I have this quilt hanging in the shop so when you come in you can feel just how awesome this fabric is.

Sewing Machine Mini Quilt

I am pretty pleased with how well this mini quilt block went. I am sure I thought it would be harder than it looks.

I still can add a little needle with floss. I may have to outline the "SEW" with a darker perle cotton so it stands out a little better.

I used Lori Holt's Cut Press Sew Quilt Pattern. There are 3 other mini quilts to make and I think the 4 blocks could be put together to make a whole quilt.

For now it I think it will go in a pile with my other blocks I have made from Vintage Quilt Thursday. I am toying with the idea of putting all the blocks together into one quilt at the end of the year.

Eerie Mini Quilt

Hello Tuesday! Today I am sharing a mini Halloween quilt I stitched up.
Anyone recognize the pattern?

The fabric is Eerie by Basic Grey.  It uses a charm pack and 1/4 yard of background fabric.

It's Thimbleblossom's mini house pattern, Dwell.

I hand stitched  a few places with perle cotton and machine stitched around the houses.

I had enough charm squares left over I used them for the backing. In fact, I had enough charm squares left over I could have made another mini quilt (with more background, of course).

And, in full full disclosure, I haven't finished the binding. Half of it is pinned so I could take pictures. I have a few binding projects just waiting to be finished.




Here is the Eerie lovliness in all its glory. Basic Grey is one of my favorite designers, We also have fun fat quarter bundles available.

Strawberry Social Quilt

I am in love with this quilt Jenele made, Strawberry Social. 
The first bolt  (the green one) in the photo is what she picked for her backing.

I think the white with pink dot is the perfect choice for the background. You can never go wrong with dots.

Heather bought a new long arm pattern to go with this quilt, a strawberry and leaf pattern. I can't wait to see it done.

Happy New Year and New Hexies

As soon as I finished my hexie quilt I started another. I am addicted.

I  moved on to double flowers and this time I used scraps. I had a goal of 35, then 48, and now I am making 63 (I believe I have 49 made). I have ordered a Bridal Bouquet paper piecing set and I can't wait to get started.

Hexie Quilt Particulars
-made using mini charms from Moda. They are the perfect size (2.5") and I didn't trim them.
-I used about 20 packs and 3 packs of paper pieces. I have reused them many times and they have held up well
-I sewed the hexie flowers right on to a cream square and then joined the squares
-started in March and finished the top in November

Today is about taking down our Christmas window.  Now I have to think about a January up to February window. I am drawing a bit of a blank. Anyone local have any ideas and want to help me? I miss my window partner Laura.

Speaking of Laura, she will be giving me photography lessons. I got a new camera for Christmas and I am over my head. I did take a few shots of my ornaments to practice before packing it all up.
