My Love Affair with Orange.

When we first got the Denyse Schmidt book "Modern Quilts Traditional Inspiration" I knew I had to make something from it!  The patterns are classic and traditional with only a twist that Denyse Schmidt could add.  I chose to make the Irish Chain.  But might have to make the Ocean Waves or Corn and Beans pattern.

Looking at the photograph of this pattern in the book I thought that it would be perfect for my queen sized bed.  However, when I noticed that the quilt finishes 64" X 64" and the orange squares finish at 3/4 of an inch...I decided to not make it any bigger....for now!

This pattern might look intimidating and tedious, but it was quite fun to do and not nearly as hard as it looks.  Orange is one of my favorite colors and I think it works great in this quilt.  I mean I do have a red headed mom, married to a red head, have two orange kitties, everything in my closet is this color, and about every other quilt I make is orange!

I said I liked orange....especially on my feet!  We are what we sew!

ADORNit Ruffle Pillow

Heather made this stinkin' cute ruffle pillow from all ADORNit fabric and from their Capri book.
She will be teaching this adorable pillow in a class. I will share the dates when she has everything lined up.

Zig zags aren't going anywhere!  I think they add a nice variety to all the patterns of the pillow.

Linking up to Crazy Mom Quilts, Finish it Up Friday.
Go check out what others have been up to this week.

Get a Clue, Nancy Drew!

Who didn't grow up reading and love Nancy Drew?!  Nancy Drew first started her detective work in the 1930's and has been a favorite ever since!  She has timeless charm and is such a classy character!

Moda has come out with some suburb Nancy Drew fabric called Get a Clue with Nancy Drew.  It depicts the many faces of Nancy Drew and clever coordinating pieces to go with it!  Charm packs can be purchased here and fat quarter bundles here and don't hesitate to contact or convo us about yardage!

We currently do not have anything made out of this fabric, but Tara and I are thinking that this quilt pattern or this bag pattern would work great.  How fun would that be to have a book bag made out of Nancy Drew fabric to carry all your favorite books in!

Send us pictures of your projects and ideas made out of Nancy Drew and we'll feature them on our blog!
