Berenstain Bear Bear Country Quilt

When we got the Berenstain Bears fabric in, In Bear Country, I was stuck on what to do with it. I looked for a pattern that included large pieces so the images wouldn't have to be chopped up.

I found Abby Lane's Pepperland fit the bill. It used fat quarters and solid white. It came together quickly. You just need a surface to lay out the 4 blocks prior to sewing (yes, this quilt is just 4 large blocks).

Amy quilted an all over alphabet. Perfect! Thanks Amy. I washed this one before hanging it in the shop. A quilt always changes after getting washed the first time and I wanted to see the alphabet pattern all crinkled up.

As usual, I cut a few extra kits as I was cutting mine and I put one in our etsy shop if you want to make one too.

I am working on a fun and easy tutorial for you. I want to make the template a pdf for you to print out. I have never done that before so fingers crossed.

Mary's Postage Stamp Quilt

The weather finally eased up a bit and I ran out quickly to get a shot of Mary's quilt. It was a bit windy and I didn't want the quilt to blow on the ground so I snapped a few pics and hoped one would work.

Our friend Mary made this quilt and when she brought it in to be quilted Heather fell in love with it.  It is so Mary and so awesome.

She put a Tula Pink Prince Charming fabric on the back. It was a perfect fit for the scrappy top.

I have made 3 of my postage stamp blocks (they finish at 1.5"). I need to make one more before the end of the month to meet my 2 blocks per month. Each of my blocks has 100 2" squares. Its going to be great but I am glad I only have to make 2 a month.

Heather and I went on a wee adventure Friday and came home with a box full of vintage patterns. I am a sucker for vintage patterns. I am putting bundles of them in our Etsy store. If you are mad about them too take a look.

Bella Baby Quilt

Heather made this adorable baby quilt. She pulled yellows and greys from Lotta Jansdotter's line, Bella, and a few coordinating prints. The binding is a perfect candy stick stripe in grey and white.

She used Cluck Cluck Sew's pattern, Boardwalk

The backing is a soft grey minky, perfect for babies to snuggle. I think it is just dreamy.

I have one kit left and you can find it and our Bella bundles here in our etsy store

Valentine Sewing

Happy Valentine's Day!  Sewing for Valentine's Day is my second favorite time of year to sew for. Is it the red? The hearts? Whatever it is I find myself always sewing up lovey goodness.

The quilt on the headboard was made by Amy and is a pattern from Kim Diehl's  book,  Simple Comforts.

The L-O-V-E letters were printed by Doug. Aren't they adorable?

I made the heart table topper/wall hanging. I wasn't able to write up a tutorial for that but I will be so look for it under our tutorial link.

The bear is from the book, One Yard Wonders and is made out of Vintage Modern.

I put 2 chairs in the window and one of them needed something. I fussy cut a heart from Petite L'Ecole by French General for a cute pillow.

I had some leftovers from my table topper so I put them together in this easy table runner.

The antique, handquilted butterfly quilt in the window is for sale. Please contact one of us for information.

Have a great day!

Ticklish!

We are so ready for Spring here at the Quilt Barn!  It was sure starting to look like it might be coming, but this weekend proved that theory wrong!  Either way we are still making Spring INSIDE the Quilt Barn!

We recently got in the new Moda line Ticklish by Me and My Sister Designs.  It is so bright and happy and looks just like Spring!  We have Layer Cakes, Charm Packs, Jelly Rolls, Yardage, and even those cute little Mini Charm Packs!  The colors in this line are so vibrant - I think the teals are my favorite!

Custom Tree Carving Quilts

Since posting the Tree Carving Quilt I made for my mom last week we have received many wonderful emails and feedback.  I see it floating around Pinterest and I can't tell you what a thrill it is to see people pinning something I made.

We have had many people ask if we could make one for them and we are now listing custom Tree Carving Quilts in our Etsy store. So far I have the baby and lap size listed but I will be listing full, queen, and king soon. If a listing sells for the size you are needing it will be re-listed once we have finished the order.

Heather made the one above. Its gorgeous. I can't wait to get our first order and make their custom love heart, knowing it will be a special gift for someone.

New Fabric Type Tpewriters

I saw this fabric from Andover months ago  and begged Heather to order it. Please please please. So she did, cause I wouldn't let up. I rattled off all the store samples I would make with it.
It arrived a few days ago and we are already almost out of the typewriter fabric. Fortunently we ordered a few more bolts.
We all want quilt backs. I am going to make Amy Butler's Weekender Bag with it too. And an apron.

It is Type by Julia Rothman for Windham Fabrics.

Laura likes this one the best.

I put this fabric and a fat quarter bundle on etsy. I'm in a sharing mood. But I still might buy all of it.

What else can you see this line made out of?

Heirloom Quilt

I have been wanting to make something from Joel Dewberry's Heirloom line for some time now. I finally got around to it! I used the Big and Bold pattern and this quilt came together quickly with fat quarters and a bit of solid purple.

It is hanging in the store for a bit so take a look when you pop in and tell me what you think.

Big thanks to Laura for the fantastic photography.
Look, sunshine!!

Another thank-you to Amy for quilting the quilt. Great pattern Amy!

I made a few kits when cutting my fabric for myself and I put one on Etsy.

Also, find me on Instagram, tinyglutton, for peeks on what I'm working on (and you can see the kitty valentine t-shirt Laura designed). Are you on Instagram? I want to see what you are up to too.

Happy February! The Best Month of the Year!

February has rolled around and it was time for a new window!  Tara and I put together a Valentine's Day theme (no surprise there!)  Love is in the air...even at The Quilt Barn!

Tara made this very playful and fun Mad Hat quilt, pattern from the Quilted Fish!  She used different teal and pink fabric around the store.  Including, Vintage Modern, Flirt, and Flea Market Fancy!  Aren't those pompoms awesome!

I worked on a pattern by Cluck Cluck Sew called Pow Wow.  It was such a fun simple pattern that I was able to finish in a weekend!  I also picked a pink and teal color pallet but I threw in a bit of green because green is the best color of all colors!

This quilt I made using Marmalade flannel charm squares and creamy white yardage.  I was inspired by a pattern in the book Modern Designs for Classic Quilts which is a book that the Quilt Barn carries. I think the colors are just so fresh and clean!

Yep, that was a pictures overload!  But come stop by and check out our window in person!  And enjoy the best month of the year!
