Side by Side Chicken Quilts

I'm not sure how the topic came up but Jenele and I were talking about quilts we have made and our favorites. It turns out that we both made Buggy Barn's Barn Chicks quilt. And boy are they different.

Jenele used primitive country fabrics for her. She also added sashing to hers and made a different border.

And I used bright crazy fabrics. I added the border but not the applique lettering, "Barn Chicks".

Buggy Barn patterns are so much fun. Its been a while since I've made one. The Halloween Pumpkin pattern is on my to do list. Maybe this year is the year for it.

Have you made a Buggy Barn quilt? What was your favorite?

Some of you have probably heard of Old Red Barn. Check out her blog, she is a great quilter and a great person. Congratulations Dana!

I have to figure out how to number comments. Counting down was tough. Any ideas?

New Fabric friday

Sew Cherry, by Lori Holt, isn't a new fabric but I am still pretty excited that we got some bolts.

This one is my favorite. I am thinking of pairing it with a red with small white dot for an apron.

Also by Lori Holt is Millie's Closet. The bottom fabric is a cheater fabric with all the fabrics from the line. Its like a charm pack all together. I really need some of this.  I'm kinda jumpy thinking I need to hoard a bunch of this.

Be sure to check out Lori's blog, Bee in My Bonnet. We just got in 2 of her applique patterns. They are amazing. I have already started Grandma's Kitchen. The other one we got in is Women's Work.

I will be drawing for the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Prize at the end of the work day (6 PM) so there is still time to enter to win a chevron fat quater bundle

Birch On the Go Quilt

Heather's Birch To Work quilt was such a huge hit at HMQS in Provo, Utah (Home Machine Quilting Show). We didn't make kits of this one, it was more to showcase our new batting and be a store sample for the Birch fabrics.
Due to popular demand we made up some kits so you can make your own. Birch fabrics are so soft and 100% organic.
You can get a kit here

Lori's Quilt

Lori's latest quilt is all quilted and the binding sewn on. Heather Bailey's Freshcut was her inspiration fabric line and she pulled a few others to round out the quilt. I really like the stripey binding.
We have a few kits made up if you want to make one too.  You can find one here

Also, the Sew mam Sew Giveaway is still on and you still have time to enter. Go here for more details

Blogger's Quilt Festival

Hello! Welcome to The Blogger's Quilt Festival. Its the time of year when Amy from Amy's Creative Side opens up her blog for all of us to share our quilts and to take a look at all the great quilts that are out there.
There is lots of inspiration and you can find new fun blogs to follow.
If you are new here thanks for popping by. We hope you will be back.

The quilt I am sharing is a special one to me. I made it this year for my mom on Valentine's day. My dad passed away 5 years ago and I made this for her in memory of her sweetheart. I embroidered their initials in the heart.

Fabric Friday

I have worked here at The Quilt Barn 9 months and I still find fabric we have that I didn't know we had.
I am very excited about this latest find, an long out of print and hard to find fabric by American Jane called Happy Campers. Its a neat 4 in 1 fabric that features four different prints seperated by a letters and numbers border strip.
You can find the yellow here

I really need an idea on how to use this fabric. Has anyone seen anything or made something with this? Have any ideas for me?
The blue is here

Maybe a sort of whole cloth kid's quilt? Ideas please!
The red is here.
The great things about this fabric is that it is still priced at the original price, 8.99.

You can also find these fabrics at our webstore here.

Flea Market Fancy Hexagon Rag Quilt

Remember I showed you Heather's hexagon rag quilt? I finally got the binding on mine and washed it up. I don't normally wash a quilt before it becomes a sample but washing a rag quilt turns it into something fun!

I love how it turned out. It is so soft and cuddly. 3 of us Barn Chicks made this quilt and made 3 extra kits for you if you want to make one too. You can fin them here or in store.
So, what do you think?
