Outside Quilts

Today is such a beautiful day. Its amazing out there. Tomorrow, however, it going to be miserable.
I wanted to take advantage of this sunshine and retake a few quilt photos.
I felt the inside photos I took earlier this month were not doing these quilts justice.

I think this fence outside The Quilt Barn is my new favorite photo spot. The power lines are fun. Never mind the goofy looks I get when I wheel my cart full of quilts out there.

The above one is Heather's Lorax Quilt. She designed the pattern herself.

She used the Lorax Panel and mixed it with a wonky stripe rectangle.

The Dr Seuss Quilt is so cute. I love the fussy cut corner blocks.

Flea Market Fancy Arrival

I couldn't even wait for the wrapping to come off these bolts, I had to take a picture and share.
When we heard that Flea Market Fancy was being re-released we got excited. Not gonna lie, we were a bit giddy. Some of these prints were going for 50 bucks a fat quarter on etsy. No joke.
We put our order in in December. It took a bit of work but some of our order came in today. We have a few bolts that will still be delivered.

My favorite from this pile is the green with black/white seeds. I love that shade of green.
These bolts should be out on the floor and on our web site early next week. Now, how much should I get?

Elephant Quilt

When Amy Saw Valori Well's Elephant fabric she knew she wanted to make a quilt with it. And look what she came up with! Amazing right?!
The pattern she used was Turning Twenty Stained Glass and Scraps.
The fabric is Valori Wells Free Spirit Karavan Marrakech (elephant) Kashmir (backing). The other fabrics (the Stained Glass) were pulled from various lines.

The backing is great too. She cut an extra kit when she cut out her quilt so if you would like to make one too let us know.
You can get the Karavan Elephant fabric here.

Father's Day Snuggle Up Quilt Tutorial - Masculine Quilt Pattern

If you are looking for a great masculine quilt, Heather put together a cozy flannel throw for your favorite man! We are calling it the Father's Day Snuggle up. I think the zig zag quilting makes this quilt pop. Takes it from great to wow!

Here is what you need:
5/8 yard of  6 different colors
1/2 yard for binding
3.5 yards for backing (Heather used a grey minky)

Cut 8  9.5" squares from each of the 6 colors.

Arrange the squares into 8 rows of 6 blocks each (see photos for fabric color placement).
Heather quilted the zig zags on the Long Arm at The Quilt Barn.

Fabrics used are from Maywood Studios line, Woolies Flannel. It is the perfect lap size, 54"X72".
We have had requests for a masculine quilt and I think Heather delivered.
You can get a kit in store at The Quilt Barn or from our webstore.
I have now added 4 new colored kits to our etsy store and webstore.  Check them out!

Moda Bakeshop Cathedral Window Playmat

When I saw this free pattern on Moda Bakeshop for a Cathedral Window Playmat I knew it was going on my to do list.  All you need is a layer cake and batting scraps.
I bought the Bliss layer cake asap because I knew once they were gone, they were gone. I love this line.
It lays a little wonky but I like it. I don't have need for a baby playmat so I think this will be a table runner. Very spring-y.
Once the fabric circles and batting circles were cut out this was a fairly easy pattern to put together.

Dr Seuss Quilt

Heather has designed an amazing pattern to go with the new Dr Seuss fabric. No surprise, that lady has talent.
My favorite part are the fussy cut corner blocks.  And the black and white stripe border. OK, all of it.
Heather backed the quilt in a black and white minky. Soo soft.
We have made up a few kits for you to make your own. You can get yours here or in the store. Also, you can pick up the yardage from Dr Seuss here
Have a great weekend!

Sewing for Babies

Jenele brought in some goodies she had made and, as usual, they are very cute.
Up first is a changing pad. Here it is all folded up.

And unfolded. Isn't that cute? The open flaps have pockets for diapers and wipes. Very chic

Another sweet dress from The Handmade Dress pattern. The little birds in the berries are so sweet.
