Fabric Friday Nightshade

When I saw peeks of Tula Pink's new line, Nightshae, I was impressed. Now that we have it in and I can see it in person I am in love with it. The detail is amazing.

Heather has started a quilt with this from Tula's new book. I can't wait to see it.

This is Evening.
There is a lovely sinister story about these three sisters to go along with this line. I am a huge Halloween fan and have more Halloween quilts than any other holiday. I need to find the perfect pattern so I can cut in to this fabric.

Barn Chicks Road Trip!

The Barn Chicks are going on a road trip and I am a wee bit excited.
We are going to the Utah Shop Hop tomorrow! All shopping, 2 days.
Doug is making us custom t-shirts. They are kind of funny. I wont tell you whats on the front (pictures tomorrow) but the back will have the Barn Chicks photo. Its our header up there for our blog.

If you are going on the Utah Shop Hop too and see us tell us you read our blog and we will give you a spool of Aurifil Thread! I am filling my pockets as we speak just for you.

July Window

It was about time we changed out our windows. The last window (Vintage Kitchen) was a big hit but it was time to come up with something new.
Since our windows stay up a few months we thought a July 4th theme was in order.

With no clear idea in mind I pulled fun red, white, and blue items from my and Quilt Barn's stash.
Jenele had lanterns left over from her daughter's wedding, I found a small picnic table in the Quilt Barn's basement and off we went with a BBQ/Picnic theme.

Our other window with the iron bed is next. Amy and I are making a making a few fun things for the bed so stay tuned for that transformation.

Fun Treats

We got some fun surprises in on Monday. We got a great deal on these fun treats so we are passing it on to you.

Ticker Tape Quilt

Amy brought in this wonderful ticker tape quilt for our store. It is similar to our quilt as you go rag quilts.
The fabric is a store made jelly roll of Simple Abundance (we have a couple rolls left in store if you are interested).
Amy will be teaching a class on the ticker tape technique. It is a fun and fast quilt.

Sherbet Pips Quilt

Our Sherbet Pips charm packs were calling to me. Naturally I answered their call. I saw Cotton Way's pattern, Cuddle Me Cozy, and bob's your uncle a quilt was made.

The pattern calls for cuddle but I substituted white cotton. I wasn't sure I was in a sewing minkie kind of mood. That stuff is tempermental. Minkie backings, no problem. 2.5 inch pieced squares? Maybe not right now.

I picked the running puppies. I love this print. So happy.
I am prety happy with how this quilt worked out. If I ever need to make a baby quilt again I would certainly use this pattern again.

Farm Fresh

Heather was in Utah and visited the Riley Blake warehouse (I want to visit the Riley Blake warehouse!) and brought back some cutre bolts. This line is Farm Fresh.

Normally I am not going to get squeally about fabric like this but I love it. The cow and pig are staring at me, "make something with me".
I am thinking about a skirt with an apron for my 6 year old. She is my youngest so I have to take advantage of this age while I can. She still likes to wear whatever I make. My 12 year old, not so much.
Any thoughts on what to make with this fabric line?

Design Input

I am making a friend a wall hanging. She suggested a swap, this wall hanging for something knitted. I usually pick socks because I am knitting inept. I tried, I really did. I'm going to stick with quilting.

She emailed me a few color inspiration cards from Design Seed. We chatted a bit more and she would like a water type hanging.
I have made a pin board of our inspiration and I pulled the above fabrics.

Do you have any pattern ideas for me? Have you seen something on the world wide web that would fit? I would love your input. This type of wall hanging isn't something I have done before.

Grandma's Kitchen Applique Quilt

I begged Heather to carry some of Lori Holt's applique patterns. They are so stinkin cute. We got Grandma's Garden and Women's work.
This one above I am working on and its the Grandma's Garden pattern. I love applique and the mixer is my favorite.

I thought I should start with some of the simpler patterns to get into the groove. I used Walk in the Woods Grey Stripe and Orange Flea Market Fancy for the handles.

The canisters are Meadow Sweet (strawberries) and Flea Market Fancy Eyelet in Green

Jenele is making this one, Women's Work.  We vowed to make a few blocks a month. We will be sharing our progress.
 There are many blocks with embroidery and I am kind of new to that so fingers crossed. Ive made simple dish towels with embroidery on the corners but that's about it.

I want to start an applique group and work on these patterns with others. What do you think?

Dr Seuss Minky!

Will you take a look at this lovliness! Dr Seuss minky! Can you believe it? I am thinking of a front and back quilt made with this. Perfect Christmas present for my girls. I will add this to my to make list. Its getting a little long but I have time.
