First Aid Zippy Pouch

Our latest Modern Quilt Guild swap is zippered pouches and I managed to be ahead of schedule. I usually work on a project the day of our meeting.

I had seen a first aid pouch somewhere on the world wide web a while ago (before pinterest was on my radar or I could have saved the picture and source) and put it on my mental to do list.
I dug around in my orphan block bag and this little cross block brought that idea back to me. Hah, I was halfway done.

I ironed fabric fusible to the back, drew the words on with my Frixon pen and  embroidered over the lines with perle cotton.

I found a good zippered pouch tutorial here.

I added a half ring on a loop before I sewed up the sides (to attach a small bottle of hand sanitizer or keys, what have you).

I threaded 6 lengths of the same perle cotton through the zipper pull and sewed on a red pull tab to the end.

I picked a fun lining fabric, drawn lined cloud.
The last zippered pouch I made I ended up chucking in the garbage so I am pretty happy I finished one successfully. I might even check out my other orphan blocks and maybe make some more for Christmas presents.
