Valentine Tree Carving Quilt

We are now offering custom Tree Carving quilts in our etsy shop. We will have baby to king sizes available with the heart customized for you.

Today we are starting a series on Valentine Projects.
Pinterest never ceases to provide wonderful inspiration. I saw this quilt (the link will take you to the pinterest picture) and put it on my Valentine 'make' list.

I should have stuck with quilting from the middle out like I usually do but I jumped around a bit and got a few more puckers than I would have liked but overall I am quite pleased with the results.
Here is the link to the original picture on happylifedesigns flickr page.

Thanks for everyone who has visited here via Pinterest and left your lovely feedback. For those of you asking if we can make a quilt for you we are looking in to having custom Tree Carving Quilts offered in our etsy store in the new year (2013).  You can like us on facebook so you can be the first to hear about it when we do list them.

  1. I miss your store, I used to LOVE looking foward to stopping in as we drove from BSU to meet with family in SE Idaho.

Recently, after moving to the deep south, we found out we will be transfering to another post, and another town. A friend of mine who had been there told me about the town, and said..."It's kinda like Kimberly Idaho." ...Well, I don't know how she meant it, BUT I will tell you that your lovely store came to mind (still haven't found a non chain fabric yummyness store here), and it made me happy and I hope it is a bit like Kimberly :) .

Anyway, I checked out the pintrest quilt, and I must say....I think you improved on it, puckers and all. After all bark isn't completley smooth now is it. :)

  2. JB Matthews, thanks so much for such a lovely comment. I would have emailed you personally but no email address. Shoot. Your comment made our day.
Thanks so much for the praise. The initials are my mom and dad's (he passed away 4 years ago). It is now a special quilt.

  3. I think the puckers actually add to the quilt-it definitely gives it texture! I'm haeded out to get some brown fabric because I think I "need" to make the same quilt. And I have to agree with JB Matthews, I like yours better. Way to go!

  8. I agree with the above comment(s)
The puckers totally make it look more realistic.

  9. If this comes together as fast as it looks like it would, I may make it for a wedding gift for this weekend! And although I agree that the puckers don't look like accidents, but like tree bark texture, you could always stop your quilting line if you see a pucker coming. The lines wouldn't HAVE to go top to bottom every single time.
