Chicopee Feather Bed Quilt

I finally finished my Chicopee Feather Bed quilt.
I used a Chicopee jelly roll by Denyse Schmidt. The pattern is Feather Bed, a free pattern by Anna Maria Horner.

I love this quilt. I might have cursed it a bit while hand quilting it. It seemed I always had more feathers to quilt, they never ended.  I used 3 different perle cottons for the quilting.

Also, I did machine quilt in the ditch a few rows to stabilize the quilt for the hand quilting. I use 505 spray baste and bent safety pins but I wanted a little something extra.
I hand quilting simply by laying the quilt on my lap so I didn't want thing to come un-glued, so to speak.  And it didn't.

I want to give a big shout out to Laura for taking awesome photos of my quilt for me. She has been taking the majority of the quilt photos for us. She is a great photographer. I commissioned her to take photos of my girls for me and I am so happy with them (psst, if you go here this is my oldest girl).  I have to say that I got a little something in my eye when I went through the disk. So, thanks Laura for great blog quilty phots!

And I had to show you the backing.  I love this piece. It is Anna Maria Horner's Pangea from Loulouthi Needleworks. It needs to be pajama pants next. Its 58/60 wide so I didn't have to piece the back. Sweet!

I'm linking up to Crazy Mom Quilts Finish it Up Friday.

  2. This is so beautiful. I just finished one feather block for a bee swap and it took lots of concentration. I like how you squared the fabric rather than cutting it on a slant.
