Feather Bed Pillow with Chicopee

I finished piecing my Chicopee Feather Quilt top and now I am on to the quilting with chunky perle cotton. I had one block left over so I thought I could practice the stitches on a pillow.
I am kicking myself for not having one feather go one way and the second one the other way.
I was walking around my house looking for a good place to take a picture of it and wow, it really matches my Hope Valley quilt, also by Denyse Schmidt. The quilt pattern is Hills and Hollars by the same artist.

I used a 2 layer sandwich (pillow top and batting), some spray baste, and a few bent safety pins to prep for quilting.
I also used my awesome heat disappearing Frixon pen and traced 1/4" lines with a ruler around the feather. I was able to load about 4 stitches with perle cotton on my needle. It went by fast.

I didn't have a pillow form in the right size so I used left over batting. I think it needs a feather pillow to give it a bit of slouch.

Amy just finished quilting a shop sample of mine and hopefully I will get to the binding this weekend and will share it with you next week. Have a great weekend!
